Why Don't Men Need a Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act?

Ever wonder why men are not protected by laws such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? The answer to that is that American men do not need such laws. While the Equal Pay Act protects both men and women, it was not passed because primarily males were the recipients of descrimination. Women and minorities were and still are primary victims of descrimination in the workplace.

The reason men do not need laws such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act is because American males already enjoy that protection under the U.S. Constitution. Our Constitution declares that all men are created equal. That makes it Constitutionally illegal to descriminate against men (for the simple fact that they are male) in the workplace.

Since American women are not declared equal with men in our Constitution, they do not enjoy the same level of Constitutional protection.  Therefore, they are forced to accept revocable privileges, such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and to continually fight to keep those privileges.

An Equal Rights Amendment would ensure equality for all American women and men without the need for additional legislation to ensure protection guaranteed by our Constitution.
